Is the story accurate?

Heyy friend!!! Welcome to the growing 2gether blog!! I am so exciting to FINALLY be doing this! My name is Lenie and God gave me this idea 5 YEARS AGO!!! I have stalled in disobedience and laziness and well…here we are. I am hoping this will be a space where we can talk about the unfiltered gospel of Jesus Christ! In addition, I pray that by sharing what the Lord is teaching me with you all, you might be encouraged to also share the gospel with those around you. With that being said, let’s get into it ๐Ÿ™‚

I would like this first post to be about what the foundation of this blog is. Accuracy. Merriam Webster dictionary defines it as “freedom from mistake or error; correctness. Conformity to truth or to a standard or to novel; exactness.

This blog is founded on Acts 18:24-26. Paul was being used by God to build the early church and God gave him helpers who went along side him teaching and preaching the gospel of Jesus in addition to building community. In these specific verses, we are introduced to some of those helpers.

Apollos was described as someone who spoke well and knew scriptures WELL. He was also bold and very passionate about the gospel that he taught it with so much joy and excitement.

Priscilla and Aquila are introduced to us as individuals who where part of the early church (so they knew Paul) and they listened to Apollos’ teachings.

As we read along in that same scripture, we see that Priscilla and Aquila noticed some gaps in Apollos’ teaching. Scripture says Apollos taught only about water baptism. Apollos didn’t teach about baptism of the Holy Spirit and Priscilla and Aquila noticed that. So, they “took him ASIDE and explained the way of God even more ACCURATELY.” (Acts 18:26 NLT).

What does this mean for us? I believe God gave me this blog to help us to get to know His word beyond the popular scriptures and quotes on social media. I believe God wants us to get to know Him well and more accurately through His unfiltered scriptures. The word of God is accurate and without error and my hope is that these blog posts push you towards searching and knowing scripture for yourself. I have seen my mentality, attitudes and behaviors change in the past 5 years as God opened my eyes to truly see Him in scripture and know Him. I am still learning and still growing and I pray that with these blog posts, we can all GROW 2GETHER!

By the grace of God, there will be monthly blog posts and I pray they help you as much as they help me. Grace and peace ๐Ÿ™‚
