Platforms

With the invention of social media, it seems like everyone has some sort of platform or is some sort of influencer. And this is not just those in the non-Christians spaces, but in the Christian spaces as well. Everyone has something to say and has thousands/hundreds of thousands of followers and likes. As a result, some might believe because they don’t have a platform, they don’t have a calling or purpose but that is lie from the pit of hell and I am here today to dispute that lie!

First and foremost, as believers we ALL have a calling: the great commission. “Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” ~ Matthew 28:18-20 NLT

Jesus has given us this charge, no matter who we are in society, to make disciples in His name. Therefore, whether we have a platform or not, this is a responsibility for ALL believers.

Additionally, God can call us for specific purposes which can help fulfill the great commission. Most often, this purpose doesn’t require any platform and God can literally choose anyone. We see examples of this in the bible with Saul, who was of the tribe of Benjamin, the smallest tribe in Israel, and his family was the least important (so basically no one knew them) yet the Lord anointed him as King (1 Samuel 9:14-21 and 10:1).

We also see this with Gideon who was in hiding (at the time the angel of the Lord came to him) because he was afraid of Israel’s enemies, yet the Lord called him a “mighty man of valor” and used him to fight for Israel (Judges 6).

And we have Paul whom we know all too well. He already had a reputation and a “platform” but was using it for the wrong reasons. God still used him! (Acts 9).

So, it doesn’t matter what our social status looks like, God is NOT limited by social status or by anything else. He can and will use you! It is not our responsibility to convince people of our calling. It is our responsibility to obey God and walk in His will! So, today I pray that we will have faith to believe that God can use us, no matter where we stand in society and as we hang onto that truth, we will continue to grow 2gether. Grace and peace 🙂
